Spring, Summer & Fall Events

Snowshoe Mountain specializes in putting on fun, exciting and unique events all summer long. From sporting events like the Snowshoe Mountain Bike Races to special events such as the Fire on the Mountain Chili Cookoff, Taste of the Mountains Wine & Jazz Fest, Snowshoe Blues, Brews and Barbecues Festival and the Snowshoe Symphony Festival, there is literally something for everyone. Best of all, you'll be able to enjoy the cool mountain air and our beautiful Appalachian scenery while attending the events listed below.

22nd Annual Great Greenbrier River Race - April 25

Memorial Day Celebration - May 22-24
Join us for music and excitement atop Snowshoe Mountain.  During Memorial Day weekend the resort will ignite with a special blend of of live music in a mountain atmosphere. 

Snowshoe Foundation Golf Tournament - June 19
You are invited to join Snowshoe Mountain and friends of the community for the annual Snowshoe Foundation Gof Tournament.  Participants and sponsors will play in this scramble format event all in the name of charity.

Mountain Bike Race Series #1 - June
19-21
The 2009 Snowshoe Mountain Bike Race Series kicks off on the weekend of June 19-21.  Join us for the both dual slalom and downhill racing and your chance at part of the $25,000 in cash and prizes. 

Allegheny Echoes Summer Workshops - June 21-27
The Allegheny Echoes 13th Annual Summer Workshops in Marlinton include music, writing and woodworking.

GNCC University - June 24-26
This riding school will feature a star-studded faculty of bike and ATV champions with over 30 titles collected between them

GNCC Off-Road Races - June 26-28
Resting high in the Allegheny Mountains, Snowshoe Mountain is the place to be in June as we host part of the largest off-road racing series in the nation.  Racing starts on Saturday, June 26.  With $50,000 up for grabs, it will be one hot ticket, so make sure you get to the mountain early.

Little Levels Heritage Fair - June 26-28
The Little Levels Heritage Fair in Hillsboro will include a Pearl S. Buck Birthday Celebration and a Writers' Fair.

Snowshoe Bluegrass Festival - July 2-5
Free performances in the Snowshoe Mountain Village while the main performances of July 2, 3 & 4 will take place on the Skidder Stage.

Independence Day Celebration & Community Day
 July 3-5
 
Celebrate a weekend of red, white, and blue during Snowshoe Mountain's Independence Day festivities. Take a stroll through the Village and enjoy games, children's activities, and live music on the Village Stage. And what would the Fourth of July be without a spectacular mountaintop fireworks display on Saturday night!

Fire on the Mountain Chili Cookoff - July 10-12
Snowshoe Mountain will be blazing as we turn up the heat for the 18th Annual Fire on the Mountain Chili Cook-off.  Along with great live entertainment and fun & games, we are giving away more than $12,000 in cash and prizes to the top chili cooks.  Friday we're serving up Green & Salsa and Saturday is the day for Red! So…bring yourself and your friends as we have a scorching great time!

42nd Annual Pioneer Days - July 8-12
Take a look back with friendly people, remarkable artisans, games for the whole family, parades, good food, live music and so much more.. Located in the town of Marlinton, WV, 20 minutes from Snowshoe Mountain.

Durbin Days Heritage Festival - July 15-18
Come enjoy the fun in Durbin, WV. Antique car show, carnival, craft show, train rides, a Grand Parade, fireworks, live entertainment and much, much more. This is the one event where people who now live all over the country return to enjoy these special festivities.

Snowshoe Freedom Fest  - July 16-19 
Polish up the chrome and get ready to burn some rubber as Snowshoe hosts our 9th Annual Freedom Fest - the premier all-brands motorcycle touring rally in the state of West Virginia. Bring the whole crew and enjoy a weekend of scenic mountain road tours, biker games, jamming live music and our $10,000 Poker Run

$10,000 Freedom Fest Poker Run - July 17-18
During the 2009 Freedom Fest Motorcycle Touring Rally, bikers will get the chance to take home all the chips in the richest poker run in the state of West Virginia! Collect the cards and see if your hand can cash in on the $10,000 prize!

Freedom Fest Concerts - Cowboy Crush & Trent Tomlinson - July 17-18
During the 2009 Freedom Fest nightly entertainment will be available on the Village Stage and at the Connection Nightclub. Then, on Friday, July 17th, the mountain will ignite to the sounds of Cowboy Crush!  The party continues on Saturday, July 18th with a mountaintop performance by Trent Tomlinson!

Mountain Bike Race Series #2 - July 24-26
Race #2 in the $25,000 Mountain Bike Race Series.  Both dual slalom and downhill races will be offered.

Snowshoe Foundation Treasure on the Mountain Raffle - August 1

Taste of the Mountains Food, Wine & Jazz Festival - August 7-9
You are invited to a weekend of decadent food and exquisite wine all set to the backdrop of delicious jazz.  This happening delivers a series of wine tasting seminars, tasting events and memorable mountain entertainment.  Please join us for three delightful days in the mountains.

Blues, Brews & BBQ - August 14-16
Snowshoe Mountain is hosting a fiery weekend of sauce and smoke during the Annual Blues, Brews & BBQ Event.  Guests will groove to music in our mile-high Village while enjoying mugs of beer from regional microbreweries.  Attendees will have their choice of blazin' barbeque dishes prepared by master chefs of flame and sizzle.  Best of all, you'll end the night with a Blues concert in the heart of our alpine Village.

Cheat Mountain Challenge - August 15 
The 4th Annual Cheat Mountain Challenge is back again!  This event has received high acclaim and great reviews across the nation... so come and experience a course that will challenge you physically and psychologically.

This year you can participate in this gruelling race, then join us for the Blues, Brews & BBQ event featuring mouth watering BBQ, palate cleansing brews and great sounds from the regions best blues bands.  Centering around the Village at Snowshoe, this is an event you don't want to miss!

Homeowners' Weekend - August 14-16
A weekend for Snowshoe Homeowners to meet management teams at the resort, and learn more about the workings of the resort.  Complete schedule of seminars to be announced in July 2009

Symphony Festival & WV Butterfly Festival - August 28-30
The mountain comes alive with the beautiful orchestral sounds of the renowned WV Symphony Orchestra.  With gourmet foods, arts and crafts and incredible entertainment we are sure to tantalize your every sense.  Plus, this year the WV Butterfly festival comes to the mountain for several days of arts, crafts and the release of hundreds of monarch butterflys.  Come and be a part of this combination of music, cuisine and nature in the pristine Allegheny Mountains.

23rd Annual Harvest Festival - September 26
A one-day celebration of autumn in downtown Marlinton with plenty of exhibits, crafts, music, food vendors, and activities and games for all.

18th Annual Road Kill Cookoff - September 26

Sample possum, groundhog, polecat, and other culinary delights as top chefs compete for cash prizes with their best recipes for preparing the less familiar food stocks of our back-country neighbors

Huntersville Traditions Day - October 3
See demonstrations of some arts that have disappeared in our Appalachian culture through the decades. Wool spinning,apple butter making, ice cream churning, beekeeping, chair caning, quilting, blacksmithing, apple pressing, lye soap making, weaving, cow milking, and cheese making. See crafts from around the area and special demos. Fun mountain music, great food, and hours of fun are waiting for you and your family! Make sure to visit the old Huntersville school which has been lovingly restored - this alone is worth the trip!

73rd Annual Mountain State Forest Festival - September 26 -October 4

The Mountain State Forest Festival originated in 1930 and immediately attracted national attention. Dedicated to the preservation and conservation of the state's natural resources it annually attracts around 125,000 visitors depending upon the weather.

Harvest Your Memories Scrapbooking & Stamping Getaway - October 9-11 Enjoy a weekend of scrapin' and stampin' at this charming event.  Attendees will get plenty of time to work on personal projects between demonstrations from our craft experts.
